What does it mean to be calm? As an adjective, it’s not showing fear, anger, or other unpleasant emotions. As a noun, it’s the absence of violent activity. As a verb, it’s to make someone tranquil or quiet…

 

but here - calm is being regulated. In Our Calm Corner, calm and chaos can co-exist. We teach tools that help your child balance their nervous system and find inner calm amidst their every day from the quiet moments to the chaotic moments and everything in between.

where calm meets connection

Welcome to Our Calm Corner— a safe and supportive space where children learn to navigate emotions through playful movement, mindfulness, and literacy. We believe that every child can build inner calm and emotional strength by connecting their mind, body, and heart.

Our Calm Corner was born here when my daughter turned 12 months old. Since that day, it has become one of her favorite places to relax, regulate, and read. But here's the thing... creating a calm corner isn't going to be effective unless you're teaching your child how to use it. More importantly, teaching them tools that they'll be able to use in other corners of their big world, too.

 

Sure, having a physical space for a calm corner in your home is great - but here at Our Calm Corner we believe a calm corner is a space in your heart. A space your child has access to at all times, no matter where they are. 

We are here to support both children and their families in creating a calm, peaceful foundation for life.

Our Calm Corner focuses on co-regulation through playful connection with literacy as the foundation. Our mission is to help you nurture your child’s emotional growth through mindful play, movement, and the power of stories and empower your child to discover their own tools for emotional balance.​

meet the teacher

I'm Lauren! I'm an educator turned stay at home mom and children's yoga teacher. When I left the classroom to stay home with my children I began sharing my passion for teaching emotional regulation to children online and created digital, downloadable resources for moms and families. With a BA in Early Childhood Education and Development and Master's in Literacy for grades K-12, I merged my two passions and believe in the power of using literacy to foster emotional awareness. As a certified children's yoga teacher, I also believe in the mind-body connection and love teaching coregulation practices that are FUN for you and your little ones. Aside from developing resources and courses for families, you can also find me sharing literacy and mindfulness lessons on YouTube.

Together, let's embrace emotions for the powerful tools that they are and build your child's emotional literacy skills one breath (and page) at a time.
